Called bank to repo My Vehicle?

well i actually called a tow serivce to pick up car away from my brother in law he said he was either gonna sue me or the bank because the payment was 25 days late and he wants it back..can he ? the car was only under my name no co signer just me .and he was always late in his payment 2 days 4 days 10 days sometimes on time but i got sick and tired of always waiting? plus the last payment which was 25 days late was a payment given to me with a hot check which he told me ill tell you when to cash it and i saw him several times and never told me anything so i decided to pick it up from him?
