Would would happen if your religion was proven false, beyond a shadow of a doubt?

I'm sure most religions would rebuild their beliefs around the newly discovered evidence. For example, the Catholic Church took the Biblical story of creation as true until the theory of evolution was conceived. Now they say that Adam and Eve are an allegory.
